Before: one teacher, one Excel sheet, every evening
Srijan is a one-teacher centre teaching languages, phonics, early numbers and crafts to children aged three to ten. Like almost every solo centre, it ran on an Excel register and WhatsApp: attendance ticked by hand, fees worked out at month-end, and evenings spent reconciling who had attended what and who owed how much.
The switch: import the spreadsheet, retype nothing
ShowUp started from the register the centre already kept. Students, batches, fee amounts and running cycles were imported and reviewed — line by line — before anything went live. No retyping, no blank forms.
Today: three taps a class, and the fee explains itself
Attendance is marked on a phone in seconds. Each attended class fills a cycle; a missed class simply pauses it. When the last class lands, the fee falls due — and the family has watched it add up the whole way, so there is nothing to argue. Since May the centre has recorded attendance for 968 classes, completed 49 fee cycles and sent 324 messages automatically, without writing a single invoice. Thirty-one missed classes were made up on a rescheduled slot instead of being lost — every one still counted toward its cycle.
